A Fresh Approach to Packaging

Sustainability and Earthrings

It’s no secret that we need to move toward sustainability — we only have one earth, after all, and we need to protect her! That’s why Earthrings is committed to making environmentally responsible choices. From the materials we select to the manufacturing partners we choose, every detail counts.

We want to be your trusted partner in the pursuit of sustainability, so switching to an earth-happy packaging alternative can be the easiest choice you make all day.

How are Earthrings sustainable?

The Materials

Earthrings are crafted (pun intended!) from cardboard, then coated in a biodegradable secret sauce that helps them hold up to moisture. All Earthrings are 100% curbside recyclable, as well as home-compostable.

Even the ink we use is green. (It’s black, actually, but you get it). Earthrings are printed with a soy ink that uses zero plastic.

The Partner

It’s not enough for Earthrings to be biodegradable — at least, not for us. We also want the cardboard we use to come from a sustainable source, so we searched for a partner that would share our desire to create a more eco-friendly industry.

Enter: International Paper.

International Paper matches our values to a T. The company is committed to sustainable growing practices and forest management, reusing and recycling as much material as possible, innovating new solutions, and reducing its carbon footprint.

“97.2% of International Paper pulp and packaging products are recyclable, reusable or compostable.” International Paper 2023 Sustainability Report

As our partner in the manufacturing process, it’s important that International Paper cares about sustainability as much as we do. They are committed to using less energy during their manufacturing process, and to reducing their carbon footprint.

The Carbon Footprint Reduction

When it comes to reducing our (and your) carbon footprint, the logic is really quite simple: Less weight = less fuel = less emissions.

Because Earthrings are made of cardboard, not plastic, they weigh less than most traditional packaging, and are more compact. That means that shipping emissions (and costs!) go down across the board. We use less fuel getting them to you, and you’ll use less fuel when you ship your beers and beverages around the country.

It's a win for you, a win for us, and a win for the world.

How else does Earthrings practice sustainability?

Earthrings are packaged in recycled cardboard, using tape only as needed. We recycle as much as we can, repurposing all scraps for future products, down to the doughnut-hole-esque circles punched out of every set of Earthrings.

But our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the product itself.

As a business, we are always looking for ways to reduce waste and energy consumption. Our offices are full of recycling bins, and we have large cardboard bailers we use to compress, bail, and recycle large amounts of material back to the paper mills in a full-circle sustainability process.

Bottom line? When you choose Earthrings, you’re doing the right thing for our planet.
